Memory-Continuity, Marin and Alina Gherasim at Gallery RIVAA

Gallery RIVAA partners with the Romanian Cultural Institute, presenting Memory-Continuity, modern art by Marin Gherasim and his daughter Alina. Opening this Saturday, May 7, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The reception is open to the public.

The exhibition of modernist paintings is intended "to construct, to build, to lay the foundations of the image and the Self. It aims to rediscover and restructure the essential and profound framework of the visual, seen as a form of spirit."

Recipient of numerous awards in his fifty year career as artist, historian and teacher, Marin Gherasim's art starts with "the idea of equating construction with the architecture of spirit." A recorded interview will be screened at the opening. This short movie has been produced for the current exhibition by the artist's daughter, Alina.

An accomplished artist in her own right, Alina Gherasim's paintings, also on display in this show, "plunge deeply into the intangible memory of time."

This international exhibit will remain at Gallery RIVAA, 527 Main Street, Roosevelt Island, until May 29.

Gallery hours: 

Wednesdays and Fridays 6 – 9 pm
Saturdays and Sundays 11 – 5 pm
