Roosevelt Island's Toshiko Kitano Groner highlights the Winter Group Show at the Onishi Gallery, 521 West 26th Street, from January 19th to February 1st. She graciously invites you to an opening reception on the 19th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A Roosevelt Island Visual Art Association member whose work is frequently shown there as well as at the Octagon Gallery, Toshiko Kitano Groner is best known as a colorist. Her richly hued canvases frequently feature idealized landscapes and still lifes. More recently, she's brought her engaging flair to graphical images.

In 2016, Kitano Groner won a grant from the Art Students League, her second, based on these works.

"Ordinary things such as flowers, fruits, still lifes and landscapes or circles and lines are my subjects," says the artist. "And I seek to express the world around me and world inside of me with simplicity and color, especially in the unique hues and tones of color from my native Japan."

The Onishi Gallery show offers a new venue for appreciating her art in the company of six others.

Roosevelt Islanders are invited to the reception and to enjoy the original works of one of Roosevelt Island's best creative artists in the company of her contemporaries.

Winter Group Show II runs from January 19th to February 1st. Public reception: January 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Onishi Gallery, 521 West 26th Street, New York, 10001

Gallery Hours: Tue - Sat, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
