Fresh off a successful run at the Howe Theatre with You Can Always Come Home, Common Man Musicals kicks off August at Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance with Northanger Abbey, a new musical inspired by Jane Austen’s first novel.

"Common Man Musicals continues their commitment to produce new works of musical theatre that are relevant, relatable and affordable with the development of a new musical Northanger Abbey (Book by John Blaylock, Music by Jonathan Fadner ) Directed by Steven Eng (NAAP, NYU-Tisch, Pacific Overtures) due to hit the stage on August 4th, 2017," the group announced.

"The musical is inspired by Jane Austen’s first novel, Northanger Abbey, and is a modern day tale of a young girl on a heroine’s journey. The fascinating characters are interwoven into a haunting tale that reaches out to all humankind with a message of bravely embracing diversity and individuality."

This ambitious creative work is fueled by Common Man Musical's budding association with Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance.

"Kristi Towey (Executive Director at MST&DA) generously opened her doors to us one year ago," explains Kimbirdlee Fadner, a leading performer with CCM. "So much has happened in this last year!  We were happy to officially announce that, due to the warm reception of our first cabaret You Can Always Come Home, MSTDA invited us to begin an ongoing cabaret series of new works."

It's no small thing for any community to have new theatre created and first performed by artists trained and living nearby as neighbors.

Northanger Abbey, a production of Common Man Musicals, directed by Steven Eng will have its premiere performance on August 4th at 8:00 p.m., repeated  at the same time on August 5th and at 7:00 on Sunday the 6th.
