Historical Records Lost: Main Street WIRE Needs Your Help

Two weeks ago, the New York Public Library discarded a vast and irreplaceable archive donated by the Roosevelt Island Historical Society. The move, undertaken to make space available in the crowded library, discarded a trove of past issues of the Main Street WIRE and its predecessors as well as news clippings documenting the community's founding. Can you help?

In an article posted online, WIRE editor Briana Warsing appealed to anyone, especially long time residents, for newspapers and other relevant items they may have saved. 

While a complete reconstruction of the archive isn't possible, there's hope that some substantial saved resources might be found.
