Subway shutdowns are never easy, especially when nothing is running in either direction at Roosevelt Island. But this one is of somewhat lesser concern than most with a short duration and alternatives in place.

For roughly 7 hours, from just before Midnight on Friday, March 2nd, until 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 3rd, the MTA is shutting down all traffic on the F Line at Roosevelt Island only. They will be working on the electrical systems.

During that time, free shuttle buses will run between Roosevelt Island and 21st Street Queensbridge as well as the handicapped accessible E Train stop at Queens Plaza.

Adding an additional level of reassurance, RIOC's Public Information Officer Alonza Robertson tells The Daily, "We expect the Tram work to be completed by Saturday morning," a comforting additional option if the MTA's plans go awry.
