Tuesdays, CBN/RI Senior Center, Free Tax Prep for Low/Moderate Incomes

With tax season in full swing, the Carter Burden Network has made arrangements with AARP Tax-Aide to bring free tax preparation services to the Senior Center for low to moderate income taxpayers at the Roosevelt Island Senior Center, beginning in February.

From the AARP Foundation website:

"AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax preparation help to anyone and if you’re 50 and older, and can’t afford a tax preparation service, we were made especially for you. We understand that retirement or other life changes may mean your taxes are a little more complicated now. With the help of our team of IRS-certified volunteers we make it easy for you."

According to Senior Center volunteer coordinator Louella Streitz, Tax-Aide volunteers will be on hand at the Senior Center, 546 Main Street, on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m until 1:00 p.m. with the last client accepted at noon or when the maximum limit is reached, first come, first served.
