Planning a visit to Four Freedoms Park for Manhattanhenge on Thursday? You just got another good reason to share a unique phenomenon and the pleasures of a summer evening on Roosevelt Island. Atomic Funk Project, one of New York's top cover bands, is will perform live.

"Atomic Funk Project -- they play soul, funk, and rock covers and they're excellent!" said a Park spokesperson.

The band will set up at 5:30 in front of the monumental steps - which make great bleachers - at the north end of the park.

According to the band's website:

Atomic Funk Project is a world-class band from NYC that specializes in music that grooves and gets people dancing: Motown, Soul, Funk, Pop, Top 40... we play something for everyone!

Our roster includes musicians who have performed on Letterman, Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, & The Voice, earned Grammys & gold records, recorded with Chance the Rapper, Steely Dan, Fun, Bonnie Raitt & Billy Idol, toured with Hamilton, Childish Gambino, John Mayer, Frankie Valli, Andy Grammer, Regina Spektor & The Temptations, opened for Coldplay, Foo Fighters & Billy Joel, and much more.

They go on to list a representative selection of cover songs from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Zoot Suit Riot.

After Atomic Funk Project sets the mood with well-played, familiar tunes, you'll be ready to watch that rich summer sun descend down a dozen or more viewable Manhattan canyons.
