My inbox caught an unexpected note in late July: "This is Hannah Frishberg with the Columbia Journalism Review. I'm writing an article about Roosevelt Island's media publications, and I of course want to include a profile of The Roosevelt Island Daily..."

Drawn to the story after hearing from a friend about how we'd all come together to reverse RIOC's strange attempt to force the Cat Sanctuary out of Southpoint, Frishberg, a free lance writer, spent two hours picking my brain at Cornell Tech's café over coffee.

She also spent time with Roosevelt Islander editor and publisher Rick O'Conor, Main Street Wire editor Briana Warsing, Frank Farance and Judy Berdy, among others.

The result Roosevelt Island has three news outlets but no working water fountains is as on point and lively as outside writing about us ever gets to be. Frishberg synthesizes a lot information deftly and offers an accurate portrait of us.

My only complaint... She didn't use the headshot (see above) I sent her on request to help illustrate the story.
