The Urban Land Institute announced that the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island is one of eleven international winners of its Global Awards for Excellence. The "qualities that determined the winners included not only comprehensive design excellence, but also financing, programmatic innovation, sustainability, social equity, access and mobility enhancements, and local and regional economic stimulus," the group said.

Now in its third year at its permanent location, Cornell Tech opened on July 31st, 2017. Significant achievements include innovative designs in education as well as physical presence.

Cornell Tech's philosophy blends graduate education with business and government, reaching for forward-looking synergies that complement all three.

To that end, they built the Bridge Building, now the Tata Innovation Center, as a cross-breeding structure for technical invention, and the residential House, the largest passive house in the world at the time of its opening.

This story was first reported in Real Estate Weekly.

"The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land and in creating and sustaining thriving communities worldwide."
