Wednesday, November 1st, How To Prevent Falls, 1:00 to 3:00 P.M., Senior Center, 546 Main Street

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that falls are the leading cause of injuries in older adults. One out every three of us falls each year. But you can protect yourself. Carter Burden Network welcomes Columbia University occupational therapy students for a free Falls Prevention Presentation on Wednesday, November 1st form 1:00 to 3:00 at the CBN/RI Senior Center, 546 Main Street on Roosevelt Island.

A myriad of causes can be blamed for falls.

Illness, poor vision and muscle weakness play key roles, but just as there are many causes, there are plenty of things you can do to prevent falls.

You don't have to a senior to benefit. Maybe you're a caregiver or a concerned friend or relative. Come in and learn at this free event:

  • What causes falls in older adults?
  • What you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones from a fall?
  • The role of occupational therapy practitioners in reducing your fall risk and helping you to live life to its fullest
  • Participate in Falls Screening

No need to reserve in advance. Just come on in to the Senior Center on Wednesday afternoon. If you have any questions, call 212-980-1888.

We hope to see you there.
