Change is coming to the strip of shops along Main Street under Rivercross as Island OM owner Jax Schott is set to open a yoga studio at 521, this fall. Schott and Hudson Related Retail made a joint announcement, yesterday.

A fresh theme will inject vigor into what the community offers residents and visitors.

"Island OM will offer a range classes including yoga for yogis of all experience levels—including mother and baby classes and classes for kids—as well as barre classes," Hudson Related Retail said.

"Island OM will also offer meditation and eventually wellness workshops and holistic healing modalities."

Among her best known activities, Schott, a Roosevelt Islander for over a decade, teaches both yoga and barre at Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance.

"I have been a teacher for 13 years," she said, "expanding my knowledge and expertise in healing and wellness for all.”

Gear up for yoga...

About Roosevelt Island, she added, "It’s a beautiful & diverse community that has inspired me to be a better teacher, create innovative classes, and share a part of me to connect with any student that comes to my class. Island OM will be a hOMe for wellness and an oasis from your everyday life."

With PupCulture at 544 near opening and a ribbon-cutting for the a rehabilitated Blackwell House soon to be announced, Main Street is showing more signs of vitality than at any time since Hudson Related took over retail management from RIOC in 2011.
