June 26th, while many focused on summer's start and July 4th celebrations, the local Lion's Club was doing good, delivering one-thousand glasses donated to seniors. They were delivered to the Roosevelt Island Senior Center and will be distributed by the Carter Burden Network.

"One-thousand glasses were delivered to the Roosevelt Island Senior Center to help senior citizens to access better vision care," Pui Chang, spokesperson for the locally based J Luce Foundation, said.

"These glasses were donated to the New York Global Leaders Lions Club via Lion Howard Berman of the Yonkers Lions Club."

Under the guidance of philanthropist Jim Luce, an alliance between his foundation, Young Global Leaders and two Lion's Clubs forged a partnership that will help seniors here and, through distribution within the Carter Burden Network, throughout New York City.
