May is Mental Health Month, and yesterday, the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association teamed up with the Carter Burden Network to usher in awareness at a Mental Health and Wellness Fair in the Senior Center.

Twenty-one service providers and elected officials set up tables to let anyone interested know they were available to help and to offer tips on how to access assistance. The fair closed with a talk about issues surrounding mental health and how to break down barriers to public awareness.

As the fair wrapped up, we asked RIDA President Wendy Hersh to talk about what her organization is doing to make mental health part of an inclusive, Island-wide effort to make the lives of folks with disabling conditions better.
