"We're just waiting for ConEd," Kaie Razaghi told me, this morning. An earlier expected opening date of September 1st was caused by overly optimistic expectations for ConEd.

Razaghi has finally gotten a tentative date for when ConEd will turn on the gas at Nisi, the last step needed before reopening.

"How soon?"

"I'm guessing two weeks. Everything has been ready for a while."

Whenever Nisi opens, it won't be soon enough for a legion of Roosevelt Island fans of Trellis, which will have been closed for exactly three years on Saturday. Nisi, specializing in Greek food, is expected to be a worthy successor, managed as Trellis was by Kaie and his son Alexander Razaghi.

As we stood talking at the front entrance, everyone passing greeted Razaghi with the same question.

"When?"

"Soon," he told each of them.

And I promised to give him as much free publicity as I can squeeze in as soon as he has a firm opening date.

As soon as a menu and other details are available, we will get it to you here.
