NYJTL Continues 30 Year Tradition, Free Tennis Lessons for Kids

We at The Daily were slow to catch up, but the New York Junior Tennis League and Learning's Roosevelt Island chapter has been helping kids build character with 30 years of free tennis lessons. The program launched this year on July 5th. Here's an overview and how to take advantage.

"This is the 30th year we’ve provided this program.," NYJTL's Joyce Short reminds us.

"New York Junior Tennis and Learning provides free tennis instruction and play to kids aged 5 through 18. Our summer program started on July 5th, runs from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. every weekday afternoon at the Octagon Park courts, and ends when we go to Kid’s day at the US Open.

"No pre-registration is needed. Kids can just show up with sneakers and a smile."

This program is made possible through the generosity of City Council Member Ben Kallos, with funding from the City Council and RIOC.

Some of the best things in life are free, and here's an example. So, what are you waiting for?
