LAST CHANCE TODAY, "Oh What A Lovely War" opens on Roosevelt Island

One of the most forceful and respected anti-war musicals to hit the modern stage brings its message to the Howe Theatre in the Roosevelt Island Cultural Center as Main Street Theatre & Dance Alliance presents Oh What A Lovely War, a devastating reflection on World War I, directed by Jacqueline Lucid, beginning March 29th.

Oh What A Lovely War is fraught with irony as the romance of war seduces young Britons into supporting the emerging war that would rage across Europe long enough to draw American troops from across the Atlantic.

“Joan Littlewood's pioneering 1963 musical about the first world war not only changed attitudes towards the conflict, it remade British theatre.” – The Guardian, UK

Gay music hall songs evolve as the slides of the war and statistics set the background.

An irresistible musical with a message that must be heard, Oh What A Lovely War most recently won an Olivier Award (London's version of a Tony) for a revival in 2014.
