Rema Townsend Sentencing Delayed

If things go as scheduled, we may close the book on one of the sourest incidents ever to stain the Roosevelt Island community. Rema Townsend is expected to be sentenced for crimes committed while acting as RISA's Program Director at the Senior Center for thirteen years.

In July, 2017, Rema Townsend pleaded guilty to siphoning off cash from funds dedicated to seniors in a forgery scheme; accepting funds from two government entities while claiming to work simultaneously for both; and for double-dipping on grants from RIOC and the NYC Department for the Aging.
