NYC Ferry Service is coming to Roosevelt Island by the end of this month, and officials have lined up events aimed at getting you ready to ride.

On Wednesday, August 23rd, State Assembly Member Rebecca A. Seawright teams up with RIOC and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the agency originally tasked with building the system, to host a "community information session," at the Good Shepherd Community Center, 543 Main Street, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

RIOC played an active role in establishing the ferry landing and is expected to continue advocating for the highest levels of service in relieving strains on our overloaded transportation systems.

On an ironic note, in releasing the announcement and flyer, Seawright was not allowed to mention City Council Member Ben Kallos because a primary election has stuck him in a blackout period.

In short, we don't know if Kallos will be there to take a bow for the service he helped land on Roosevelt Island because a peculiar election law forbids it.

We at The Daily are not so restrained. Here's Kallos with constituents, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Tram, last year.
