Good works by Roosevelt Island's Jim Luce get a fresh boost when Toastmasters International cites his philanthropic work as an example as of the best of the organization's legacy values.

“While most of us may have entered Toastmasters to learn to make speeches, that benefit is but the beginning of the good which may come to us, and the good which we may do for mankind.”

In Paths Less Traveled, Toastmasters International magazine, this month, features Jim Luce, who started both Orphans International and Young Global Leaders programs here, showing how he's added muscle to Smedley's dream of service.

The article takes a glance at Luce's personal trajectory from Wall Street through a course correction into Toastmasters, inspired by a pledge to his dying brother, to becoming an activist who tracks his ideals into good works.
