Kicking off on the 1st with Summer Sunset Sundays, thundering through 4th of July fireworks, soothing and socializing as Manhattanhenge spills dramatic light across its shade trees and meadow on a summer eve, FDR Four Freedoms Park breaks out the first full month of summer with more than a half-dozen reasons to step lively on Roosevelt Island.

On every Sunday in July - the 1st through the 29th - welcomes visitors for Summer Sunset Sundays and Four Freedoms Eats. Additional details are pending, but our suggestion is that you save your appetite for award winning vendor What's The 'Dillaz? and Too Cool Chix!

Think artisanal quesadillas and natural ice cream sandwiches...

No exceptions, FDR Four Freedoms Park is the best viewing site for 4th of July Fireworks in New York City. Macy's parks barges just south of Roosevelt Island. Exploding fireworks light the sky above and echo visually off towers in Manhattan and Long Island City. The Park's patriotic theme heightens the drama.

July 12th, the Park's perfect for New York's signature summer event. At Manhattanhenge's peak moment, the sun sends rays straight down Manhattan's street grid across the East River into the Park. As the urban version of Stonehenge approaches, the evening mellows with live music, skyline selfies and friends gathered along the seawall.

And all that spectacularly compliments the daily pleasures of the Park, it's guided tours and meditative escapes from big city chaos.

Nothing quite like July in FDR Four Freedoms Park, 2018.
