Elected Officials Invite You To Learn and Ask Questions

Tenants' Rights Forum, An Important Event for Roosevelt Islanders

Tenants' Rights Forum, An Important Event for Roosevelt Islanders

Roosevelt Islanders face crises in multiple residential complexes as landlords capitalize on RIOC's negligence in developing community standards and even legal compliance in housing. The Tenants's Rights Forum on May 24th is a golden opportunity to learn what powers we have at our disposal and to ask questions from our elected representatives.

"You are invited to our annual Tenants’ Rights Forum where you will have a chance to ask questions of experts, learn about your rights as a tenant, the Senior Citizen, and Disabled Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE/DRIE), and how to support a rent freeze in 2018," said District Five Common Council Member Ben Kallos.

Roosevelt Island falls fully within Kallos's district.

Also participating are Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, State Senator Liz Kreuger and Assembly Members Rebecca Seawright and Harvey Epstein.

The event is being held the Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center, 415 East 93rd Street. The 2nd Avenue Subway makes it an easy trip for Roosevelt Islanders. Just take the F to 63rd & Lex, transfer downstairs to a 96th Street bound Q Train. Exit at the last stop and walk a couple of blocks down 2nd Avenue to 93rd Street, then turn left for one block to the Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center near Carl Schurz Park.
