Construction on Southtown 8 Stalls Rush Hour Traffic

Dozens of Roosevelt Islanders were delayed in getting to work this morning when they were ordered to get off RIOC red buses at the peak of morning rush.

No alerts were issued by RIOC Traffic came to a complete halt around 9:00 a.m. Passengers were ordered off at least one bus and onto the sidewalk near Rivercross.

No alert came through RIOC's alert system.

It's unknown whether construction crews working on Southtown Building 8 had permission to stop traffic during the busiest part of the day or why delaying commuters couldn't be avoided.

No RIOC personnel appear in photos taken at the scene.
