Next to last on the agenda for the Roosevelt Island Board of Directors July 2nd (virtual) meeting is the appointment of Shelton J. Haynes as Acting President/CEO. Then, Haynes makes his first public report. Click here to view online.

The action sets to rest the question of whether Haynes appointment in a flurry of secret reshuffling after President/CEO Susan Rosenthal was valid. Governor Andrew Cuomo's office appeared to stampede both the bizarre firing of Rosenthal and the subsequent promotion.

Enacting business, the board is required to meet the standards of open meetings law. In prior action of firing Rosenthal and promoting Haynes, they failed to meet minimum requirements for notices and for making the meeting public, apparently at the behest of the governor and without any known objection.

Tonight's meeting, rescheduled from June, is key because it involves approving last year's Annual Report on finances. To view the meeting online, click here.

Here's the full agenda:

  • Presentation of Audited Financial Statements for Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2020
  • Approval of Annual Report for Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2020 (Board Action Required)
  • Approval of Report on Procurement Contracts for Fiscal Year Ending March 31, 2020 (Board Action Required)
